Check Out My New Blog!

I love blogging about politics and trying to bring perspective to the issues.  I’m also very interested in different forms of blogging.  So, I’ve decided to start working on a blog about my latest research project.  For the summer of 2012, I am researching late 19th Century Volga-German immigration to the Midwest, especially to Kansas.  The blog is called “The Challenges to Volga-German Historical Memory.”  I will be blogging there for much of the summer, since this project is going to take up much of my time.  This new blog will give a glimpse into the research process and talk about historical criticism.  I also feel this is another avenue historians can use to discuss their research in a blog format.  Basically, it’s an experiment, and I want to see what happens.  I will continue to blog here about politics and current events periodically if something tickles my fancy that I want to talk about, so don’t worry!  I hope you continue to look at both as I slowly attempt to build a media empire one URL at a time.

New blog address: volgagermanmemory.blogspot.com (I’m too cheap right now to pay for a real URL).

Radio Show

By John Stang

I just wanted to announce that I will now be hosting a radio show once a week on my college radio station which discusses politics and current events.  The show is called “In the Know” with John Stang.  It will be on Tuesdays from 4-5 pm EST on WRKE 100.3 FM, and online at wrke.com.  The show premieres today at 4.  If you like this blog, then you’ll love the show!

I’ll also be live Tweeting during the show (@john_stang).  I’ll be taking your comments and questions there.  I’m really excited about this new project!

I’ll Be Back!

Hello everyone,

I know that blogging has been slow the last month.   With exams, then my India trip, and little access to the internet, it has been hard to do commentary.  However, you have nothing to fear.  I plan to start blogging again tomorrow with the “Morning Memo” resuming on Friday.  My first post will be on my trip to India!

I would also like to announce that a friend of mine at Roanoke College, Jayme Inman, will also start writing some posts for my blog on various topics!  When that will start I am not sure.  He is a smart guy and a good writer with sharp analysis, so it will be good.  I promise!  Anyway, when I recover from jet lag the fun will soon begin.  Until then, if you want to view pictures of my trip from India you can read the blog my class did.  Here is the link:
